Bird x Butterfly is a Korean-American musical duo based in Chicago. Frances Kang and Paul Kim write and perform together with a rare intimacy: two voices that don’t harmonize so much as merge, becoming something neither could make alone.
Their debut album, ‘Origami Hotel’ is a record built on the premise that a life is a series of rooms — some flooded with light, some with grief, some with the particular ache of joy you know won’t last. Across nine tracks, Kang and Kim move through all of them. The arrangements are cinematic and orchestrated — strings, harp, brass, synths — yet the emotional center is always the two of them, close and unguarded.
Rooted in Chicago and shaped by years of performing together, Bird x Butterfly make music that sounds like a photograph you can’t quite place — familiar and unresolved all at once.
‘Origami Hotel’ will be out on June 26, 2026.
